Lava Iris N400 : How to Root It Easily

Lava Iris N400 is a budget buy Android smartphone from Lava (the Indian Mobile manufacturer). Powered by a 1GHz processor and 1500 mAh battery, it has been one of the most-selling device from Lava Mobiles. It comes with Android Ice-Cream sandwich. The 4 inch WVGA screen and 512 MB RAM also makes it suitable.

We received a lot of request to come up with a guide to root Lava Iris N400 and here we are with the step by step to do so.

Lava Iris N400 : Rooting Guide

We have tried to make the upgradation as easy and explanatory as it could be. The upgradation guide have two halves namely:

  • Getting Ready for rooting
  • The Real rooting

Notice : This Firmware/root tweak is taken from a very reliable Android Developer. We have tried and tested this firmware before bringing this for you. However, we would recommend you to follow these steps with extra-care as a single error can lead to bricking of your Device.
The warranty of your device would void after upgrade, so do this at your own risk. We will not be liable for any error.

Lava Iris N400 : Getting Ready for Rooting

  • Before you take a step further, please make sure that your device is Lava Iris N400. You can check this at Settings >> About Device.
  • Take a backup of your existing ROM using the ROM Manager App available on Play Store.
  • You may also opt for a backup of your important data such as SMS, phone numbers using one of the backup apps available on play store for free.
  • The upgrade process work on internal battery power. So we would recommend you to charge your device more than 80%.
  • Disable all anti-virus software installed on you device and PC.
  • If you have kies installed on your PC, just uninstall it.
  • Enable USB debugging on your Device. The option for this is available at :
    Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging or
    Settings> Developer Option> USB Debugging
  • Now your Lava Iris N400 is ready for rooting.

Lava Iris N400 : The Real Rooting

  •  Download the following files:
    MediaTek Driver
    CWM Recovery
    Scatter File
    SP Flash Tool
  • Turn Off your Lava Iris N400.
  • Create a folder with name “Recovery” on your PC.
  • Now copy the Scatter and XWM filed downlaoded before inside this folder.
  • Next steps is to rename the recovery_cwm_6.0.1.5_iris.img file to recovery.img in the folder.
  • Now start the SP Flash Tool on your PC.
  • In scatter loading, browse the “Recovery” folder and select the scatter file which was copied in recovery folder.
  • Click on the Big Download button available.
  • A warning message will prompt. Just ignore it and press Yes.
  • Now remove the battery from Lava Iris N400  and wait for 5 seconds.
  • Re-insert the battery but don’t start the smartphone.
  • Connect your Lava Iris n400 to PC with original USB data cable.
  • This will start flashing on your Lava Iris N400.
  • After it completes, start you smartphone and it is rooted now.
